Recycling

On our way to work we see Guatemala-style recycling at the end of 29 Calle at the edge of the dump.
Alley in dump

This is the main (and only) alley to get to the house we are working on. We got very familiar with it.
Interior stucco

We have only two hours to finish the interior stucco and then the floor must be started.
Interior stucco

And how long will it take to do the initerior stucco? Don't ask.
Making wire staples

Jack and Eric make gigantic heavy wire "staples" to hold hard rubber electrical conduit (a bit like unbendable garden hose) into the dirt under the concrete floor, which is soon to be poured. It's the Guatemala way.
Electrical conduit

Electrical conduit is stiff, hard to work with, and long way from meeting any code.

Electrical box

The outlet box may be the same size as ours, but it's made of metal thinner than a soda can.
Lot of concrete for the floor

A truly serious amount of concrete is needed for the floor. This is just the beginning.

Pouring and leveling the floor

More concrete

Need LOTS more concrete.
Pouring and leveling the floor

The floor is progressing—but, oh, so slowly.
Mix more concrete

The need for concrete seems to never end.
Break up blocks in the alley

Break up the broken and cut concrete blocks to level off the alley somewhat.
